چکیده

Security policies are becoming more sophisticated. Operational forces will often be faced with making tricky risk decisions and policies must be flexible enough to allow appropriate actions to be facilitated. Access requests are no longer simple subject access object matters. There is often a great deal of context to be taken into account. Most security work is couched in terms of risk management, but the benefits of actions will need to be taken into account too. In some cases it may not be clear what the policy should be. People are often better at dealing with specific examples than producing general rules. In this paper we investigate the use of Grammatical Evolution (GE), a novel evolutionary algorithm to attempt to infer Fuzzy MLS policy model from decision examples. This approach couches policy inference as a search over a policy space for a policy that is most consistent with the supplied training decision set. Each candidate policy considered is associated with a fitness that indicates how consistent is the policy with the decisions provided. This fitness is then optimised using GE techniques. The results show this approach is promising.

Grammatical Evolution by Grammatical Evolution: The Evolution of Grammar and Genetic Code

This study examines the possibility of evolving the grammar that Grammatical Evolution uses to specify the construction of a syntactically correct solution. As the grammar dictates the space of symbols that can be used in a solution, its evolution represents the evolution of the genetic code itself. Results provide evidence to show that the coevolution of grammar and genetic code with a solutio...

An Application of Grammatical Evolution for Reservoir Inflow Prediction and Operation

The study describes a Grammatical Evolution (GE) system and applies it to establish the inflow prediction model of Der-Ji Reservoir in central Taiwan. GE is a new computing architecture in the area of optimization. It provides system identification in a transparent and structured way; a fittest function type of input-output relationship will be obtained automatically from this method. A multi-...

Generating Supply Chain Ordering Policies using Quantum Inspired Genetic Algorithms and Grammatical Evolution

Contributions to a supply chain’s overall cost function (such as the bullwhip effect) are sensitive to the different players’ ordering policies. This chapter addresses the problem of developing ordering policies which minimise the overall supply chain cost. Evolutionary Algorithms have been used to evolve such ordering policies. The authors of this chapter extend existing research in a number o...

The Evolution of Long-term Care Programs; Comment on “Financing Long-term Care: Lessons From Japan”

The need for long-term care (LTC) represents a “new social risk,” one that overlaps with and complements systems of care that pre-date such programs, complicating LTC program design. This commentary expands on Ikegami’s discussion of how these structural factors must be accommodated, as well as historical and cultural factors that influence public expectations of such a...
